    Default ESPixel GECE Info Thread

Hello all. This is a information thread on the ESPixel GECE WiFi adapter. It is a drop in replacement for the GECE/iTwinkle control board. It will convert a strand of GECE pixels over to receive e1.31 sACN control data over WiFi. This lets you use stock power supply and enclosure. No more throwing away perfectly good 5V power supplies. No more CAT5 running to a master pixel controller. Use the GECE/iTwinkle strands as intended, but with a useful controller!

Right now the ESP on board runs sporadic's ESPixelStick firmware unmodified. He's worked hard to create code that runs both WS2811 and GECE pixels. The boards can be re flashed with a FTDI board if need be. Configuration is managed by web interface just like ESPixelStick.

I'll post assembly instructions shortly. Please use this thread to ask questions about the board. I'll update this post as necessary.

I sure hope there is. OR at least the need for some beta testing. I have most of the parts already, boards would be so cool.

I'm not tech savvy at all really, but what do you use to control these an app on your phone? Could these be setup to run from the FPP or typical pixel controllers?

Yes the intent is to make the strands respond to e1.31 data just like all the other pixel controllers. That means from Vixen, FPP, etc.

We are working to get a group buy going asap. Stay tuned!

I currently use a E682 and Vixen 2.1 but this would make them wireless and take care of the controller to first pixel wire length issue.

Will this be able to handle more than the stock 36 lights. Will it go up to 63 pixels

    Rob,
Picture your 63 pixels tied to a wireless controller with its own IP and you just tell xLights that and connect a wireless access point to your show network and away you go. The board just passes data. You might need power injection though.
