One Channel DMX AC SSR
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a single channel DMX controlled AC SSR? I just need to control a string of Strobes. I was thinking of using this http://www.amazon.com/Amico-Solid-St...words=AC+RELAY and have it triggered by a dc dmx rgb controller. I know there is The Ren SS8 et al but I don't want to spend ~40-60 bucks just to control a string of strobes.

Re: One Channel DMX AC SSR
I'm currently using the DMX-103:

(I ordered from Ray) to control a solid state relay for my strobes. It works fine as long as you are very careful to ONLY have ON/OFF (255/0) values for the DMX channel. With the SSR, there is a slight "click" when it goes on/off so if you use a dimmed value, you get a bit of a wining noise. With the DMX-103, if it loses the DMX signal, it does go into a strange dimming pattern which can cause the noise, but for me, that's a good notice that something is wrong.

Re: One Channel DMX AC SSR
I have about 10 of these http://www.holidaycoro.com/3-Channel...2v-DC-p/37.htm so I was going to use those to trigger the ACSSR. What's nice is it has on board dmx dip switches.

Re: One Channel DMX AC SSR
Do you already have Pixels? For on/off (no dimming) you should be able to use a Pixel as a controller to drive 3 channels on a standard SSR. Seem to recall someone doing something like that either on here or another board. I also know someone tried a Dimming version with partial success, but results were not solid enough for production use.
There was also a Pixel SSR design floating around. You could use the outputs from that to control a relay.
That SSR you linked to is way overkill for a string of strobes.
