I have purchased both black and "white" from James. I'm not sure you would qualify the "white" as "clear".

The white mounting strips are transparent. So light goes through but they are not clear. Kinda fogged or frosted.

I made 3 mini trees for a July 4th display. I used 3 tomato cages and pixel holder strips. Each tree has 14 x 7. that's 294 pixels zig zagged for 3 trees. I used one output of a alphapix16 controller. I ran the signal over a 100 foot cat6 cable. the cable has a max485 chip on each end. Those chips didn't require any additional parts. I bought 40 of them for $6.25 on ebay. I spaced the trees 10 feet a part. Very simplistic design. Roger

Good Tip on the Cat6 Cables. I just got back from Best Buy and 100' of the Cat5 and Cat6 cables were around $35-$45.

The 40 cables you bought off ebay, were they all 100' Cat6 cables?

monoprice.com has a good price for cat5 cables that is where I got all my 50' cables from last year if I remember they were like $6 for each 50' cable they do have longer or shorter cables and choices of color also

I'd have to double check the vendor but it was 1000 foot cat6 for $56 shipped.

the 40 was the max485 chips. These are xmit/recv in each chip. No external parts required
