Default 10W RGB LED driver boards (Ren/dumb RGB, WS2811, DMX)

Introducing 2 new members of the 10W RGB LED driver board family: (and at the same time, starting new thread to make finding information little easier)

    - 10W driver board with integrated WS2811 controller
    - 10W driver board with integrated DMX controller (logic level)

The WS2811 version works just like a pixel and can be daisy chained.
The DMX version can be driven with a single wire from any DMX capable controller, but the signal has to be logic level (not differential.)

All boards will soon be available through a group buy. The target price for PCB with BOM is ~$3.25 (LED not included.)
I am also considering selling pre-assembled boards, so that buyers do not have to deal with SMD assembly. The premium for pre-assembled board will be less than $2.

Ok I'm interested in 5 of the 2811 boards I can get them Preassembled. :-)

I've seen numerous threads bouncing around about the these floods, but I haven't really paid a ton of attention until now (I don't do synchronized lights). I've been thinking that having a couple of floods on the front of my house that I can leave up year round to use for different holidays (red/white/blue for patriotic, green for st. patrick, etc) would be kind of neat. These seem like they fit the bill and are cost effective, but I am not sure if I am thinking it all the way through.

With the WS2811 model, I would still have issues of distance between nodes, right? Will the DMX cure that? I have a rancher, so it is a wide house, I am just trying to think of how to do this with minimal cost/complexity (not using a dozen null pixels just to have a few floods)

As it is logic level dmx, you'll have the same length issues as with the 2811. The good news is, running 60ft to a 2811 isn't hard at all. And you can have a pixel act as a repeater to give you 120ft - just always give it black color or tell your controller you have a buffer pixel.

Well, my house is about 60ft wide I think, so I really only need say 15 feet between nodes. I was thinking that that was too long for WS2811, no?

So you have 15 to 30 feet to the first light? Ws2811 handles that easily.

OK, thanks for clarifying (and sorry Rob for the tangent, but hopefully it gets you some money from me). It would be a couple of feet to the first light, and then ~15ft in between subsequent lights.

Which pixels and cases would we need for these units (trying ti gauge total price)?

New and old enclosures will work (~$6,) LEDs are ~$1.5.
You probably looking at ~$10-$11 for PCB/BOM/Case/LED flood (plus GB shipping charge.) ~$12 for pre-assembled SMD if that goes through.

For those who want to use standard DMX (RS485,) I suggest getting DM-103 decoder and my Ren/dumb RGB flood. The only drawback of DM-103 is that you need to get dedicated "address writer." However, I can flash DM-103 with my own decoder firmware, which will allow address writing from any sequencing software.
