For those of you planning to join the build, if you don't have any smd PCB projects waiting in the wings, you may want to get this practice set on order. It includes a bare pcb and parts. It's only $3 shipped.

If this isn't to your liking, I can order a set of Floodbrain boards for you to test your oven on, but you'd have to find your own parts.

The boards have arrived and look very nice.

I'm going to send a PM to everyone on the 'list' proposing next steps.

If you don't get a message, let me know.

Also that looks like a very common heat sync.

Check the sizes but i bet one of theses fit.

I wish it was common. I even contacted my Aavid Thermalloy rep and they don't have one !

The pins that mount in the PCB are 34.5mm apart. If someone else can find a substitute, I'm all game to explore it.

So.... Here is the BOM update:

For this initial build, the BOM is coming in at $31.
    this includes:
All the parts in the online project BOM with the additions of the Arduino pro ,encoder, one K-type Thermocouple and the cool Color LCD screen.
This includes only one maxim MAX31855K. The board has room for two, but only one is used with the current software. It's a $4.50 part, so I didn't include the unused one. You can always add it later.
Added to that is the PCB cost.
You will need to supply some wire and connectors and a well regulated low power 5V power supply.
You will also need very fine solder and a fine solder tip unless you have solder paste and other means to solder smd parts.

Please note that this is the first build and I'm hoping I got the BOM correct because I had to translate European part descriptions. If we need to get a different resistor or cap as we do the build, please be understanding.

In order to get these prices, a bunch of the stuff is coming via aliexpress and ebay from China so the timeframe for parts will be a month once I order them. If I ordered everything from Mouser, the prices would double.

So... I will need some money from the 9 beta participants.

    Cost Summary: $31 + $5 + $5.25 shipping and paypal fees of: (.30 + 1.25) .
    Total: $42.80

I would like to start ordering parts as soon as possible.

    My paypal address is: ukewarrior@yahoo.com
Please post here when you have paid.
