    Default Star project

I was wondering if any of you guys/gals took on this star project?

I was thinking of trying it but would like to know how big of a headache it is.

    GM:

I am about halfway through building my first star. While I'm sure that soldering the LedTriks is far worse, I'm finding that I can only go about 15-20 minutes at a shot on this thing. I have lots and lots of little puncture wounds on my hands.

I've redrawn the star and changed its size to 24" and am using 10mm LEDs. I had one laser cut, but expect to do the rest by hand.

My plan at this point is to build up the circuit on a bboard and use David's hex file in the 18f2620 to get it up and running.

The next step will be to reprogram the 18f2620 (or use another chip -- I'm more familiar with the Picaxe) to accept signals from Vixen/Grinch/595 that trigger sequences. I'm not planning for the star to pulse with the music but want it to start and stop sequences similar to David's based on Vixen triggers.

I will most likely not document the project here (or any other forum; there's interest in this over at DIYLightAnimation.com) but rather on my own web site. I will post when I update my web site.
