    i've been playing around with my "cheaper" 3d printer , it has a upgrades done to it.

    * XL upgrade
    * Tower upgrade
    * aluminum extruder
    * 4.5 x 6 heated bed for printing ABS and polycarbonate.

    For anyone looking into 3d printing , the small unit with a build volume of 4x4x4 costs about $300 bucks as a kit , which takes about 8
    hours to complete , that's with tinkering around and drinking coffee ;)

    http://www.printrbot.com

    im probably going to upgrade to a printrbot plus v2 pretty soon , i want a bigger build volume ,
    right now im on a x:200 y:100 z:120 (mm)

    the plus has a build volume of 200x200x200 or 8"x8"x8"

    just realize one thing about 3d printing though , it's not a plug and play printer or technology for that matter ,
    it takes alot of tinkering with settings and adjusting things on the printer to make them work and to get good
    prints from them , this is especially true with these "cheaper" printers , but all in all i think for paying $1000 less
    then a expensive printer i'm willing to tinker with it for a bit ;)

    I'm curious, what do you think the cost of materials is to print something like that? Also, how long does it take to print something like that?

    That's a very reasonably priced printer, but don't want to get caught up spending $100 to print a 5$ case.

    I figure about $2.00 in material and about 7 or 8 hrs total to print.

    Mine is done. w00t w00000t!
    Our material is yellow, so I think I may sand it nice and smooth and paint it. I have some metallic Red and Blue so I may choose one of those colors.

    I don't have access to expensive machines or tools. I just bought a snipping tool to cut out the aluminum plate for the holes.
    I mounted the power supply on the back of the project box.

    If you need an affordable 3D printer, you can buy it from 3DStuffMaker

    You can use for craft and making project for kids and make them learn visually.
