Why are so many folks talking about the REN 24s? Is the REN 24 better then the REN 64?
Did I miss something between Christmas and now?

Flash,
The Ren64 is a controller that sends signals to remote SSRs while the Ren24 and Ren16s are the same controller circuits with onboard SSRs. They are another option for the Renard design and are used where either a single, all-in-one board is desired or the lighting elements are physically close to each other, like a mega tree.
There is a lot of talk this last week about the Ren24s as a parts coop and a board coop are both coming to an end for DIYC enthusiasts about the same time.

I wouldn't say that they're better, but they suit my needs better, and match the way I want to layout my display easier.
If you have 24 Channels located in a relatively tight area like a small tree grouping or leaping arches, a ren 24 is ideal.
