You may be able to use winebottler depending on how what development environment the use. If it was developed under dotNet, one of the most inefficient development environments, it may or may not run.

Did you go to this link? http://winebottler.kronenberg.org When you click on the download button you will go via a ad site. It's how he makes a little of coin plus donations.

If you're going to switch to Mavericks then you'll have to wait. There is a problem with Wine and Mavericks which the Wine group is working on. It's not a major issue and there are workarounds but for now you cannot run both Wine and Mavericks.

I agree that a migration from .NET would be awesome... Maybe it can be a thought for V4? I would love to be able to run the software on my Linux box (I tried running both V2 and V3 under wine and there were issues with my DMX output and 95% of the time I couldn't even get the program to load correctly).

Not to knock all of the hard work by the developers, but software development for cross-platform usage is something that is often overlooked by software creators around the globe. It is assumed that most people prefer the monopolous Windoze but in reality, Microsoft has such a tight grasp on the world that many people don't realize their computer is capable of allot more than what Microsoft allows it.

see here is the thing about any emulation program or boot interface... its not the real thing but an emulation ....so it will never be 100% there will usually be conflicts with the initial OS ....although from having multiple boot-up OS's (also known as Dual Booting)this allows a little more ease...i cant remember the program name for MAC it maybe called Parallel not certain about that; it instead of BootCamp does not emulate, it partitions a separate OS on your hard drive to have a separate OS ie in this case you'd want windows ... so the .NET is supported. the only down side is you would not be working in MAC OS while working in the other OS you would only be working in 1 OS at a time ...the only way to switch to the other OS is to restart the computer... MAC has licencing confirmations with Microsoft so they have a pretty good version of Windows to boot, but if you let say wanted MAC OS on your windows computer ; the rights have not been given so the versions out there work but not adequate.

I have to agree with 1017pm, it's no longer just a Windows world.

Mac sales are growing a lot faster than Windows. More and more corporations are moving away from Windows and their toy interface. Talk to Admins and see how many run the new windows UI.

Then you have Linux which is growing fast as well.

These days it's not hard to write cross platform and IMHO its short sighted not too do so. I recommend that the Vixen developers look forward and once V3 is stable look at converting it to run cross platform. Same for the other sequencing programs out there, look forward and write cross platform code.

oh for sure i am not diagreeing with the idea..i personally own both and prefer the Mac for its platform stability....i am not experienced in software or plugin development so i cannot say how easy it is to write stuff for either or or even better cross between both...i do think crossing over to mac interface would improve HLS in its self because of all the other programs it utilizes for effects AE as one of them... AE works better IMO on MAC than Windows...

..your right about the demand... but a lot of what we do is in the development world and always expanding development so for this aspect keeping it Windows platform keeps it simple for development purposes.

It is more then cross platform unfortunately. Some things are just plain ugly and don't integrate well. For instance, xlights works on a mac, but I think it is ugly. On top of that, it duplicates a lot of my Mac functionality versus integrating with the provided capability of the system (like having calendar integration). I appreciate the issue, and understand why a developer choices not to do cross platform. For instance, I develop in COCOA because I want to make the best integrated OS X app I can. Yes, I can short change that to have cross platform with windows, so one has to choose. Reach more people, or have a better experience for a smaller audience. Only the developer can make that choice.
