Thx guys for the responses. The projector is my primary worry more than the set up. Read enough about that part to not be scared of that. But by all means keep adding that info cause I'm always willing to learn something new.

But as far as the projector someone in the chat room who lives in there was helping me a little a while back and was talking about I should go short throw projectors with +2500 lumens and I would be fine. So I was looking at these which get really good reviews and can also be used to show a movie or two if you got the urge...

The youtube review of the 500 model made me semi /drool and was hoping someone would know if one of those two above would work ... They seem to be about the same specs besides the 500 doing 16:9...

I've heard parchment paper works well if you tape it to the window - I might go that way for my projection.

Thx all for the replies .

I'm more worried about picking the projector than the set up . I've been reading the heck out of everything I find about the set up and feel I'm ok there. But by all means keep adding ideas on that part cause I'm always willing to learns something.

But onto the projector , awhile back a mod I think or someone who lives in the chat room was helping me a little on this topic and said to go with a short throw projector. Above 2500 lumens and I should be fine.

So I was looking at these 2

    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/j...sku=V11H584220
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/j...u=V11H436020-N

The only difference I can find between those 2 is one does 16:9 and one doesn't which I'm not sure if it matters for the window trick , but would be nice for using it for a movie or football game now and then.
But this video got me pumped about the 500 model ...

Anyone see a reason one of those wouldn't do , and what would be a better option ? ... The last thing I want is to have to try to return one cause I'm wrong.
    Thx all.

Sure wish I knew why sometimes my post when I hit post quick reply show up instant and then sometimes I get a message saying won't be posted till ok'ed by mod...

And it keeps happening on a longish post about projectors LOL ... At least I thought to cut and save the message this time till I figure out what keeps happening in that post.

    Any clues mod/regulars ????

who would say that? but what reely counts is to misure the two spots you would like to project onto and do the math to figer out where the projector would have to sit, and whether that spot was ok with you.

most of the time 2500 lums should work, but in part it depends on ambient light, the more other lights you have on the more lums you need. good news is that for rear projection for affects its not nearly as demanding as doing home theater.

for a window this will likely be more than enough (500 lum and 640x480 is whats in some of the "kits"), but for a home theater in its downtime i would suggest something with atlest 720p as a native resolution. and short throw is all about where it has to be placed, my projectors need to be 10' back to do a 55'' by 73'' window, eating up an entire room, becase you cant have anything inbeteen as it would cast shadows. (btw my projectors are not short throgh that's why they need the room )

Thank you so much gigogig ... That helped tons. SO I guess either of those two I posted will do my holiday stuff fine tho as long as Im just doing rear projection for effects in a window.

And also thx for adding a spec to look at (the atlest 720p as a native resolution) comment so I know kinda where to start if I did want to use if for movies and whatnot ...

I guess for starters I'll just get the window effect going and at least "she'll" be happy.
Anyone see a reason I wouldn't want the refubbed one for 100 cheaper ? Only things I see different is one can do 16:9 and the other can't. Regardless tho I guess I get one of those 2.

    Thx again all.

Go to Holiday Projection - http://holidayprojection.com

You can get a specialized bundle for Christmas / Halloween if you like/

I can on a special USB flash drive get you all setup without it costing you much.

The windows in the house are pretty big and not sure what will get the job done.

I don't want to break the bank but I don't want something that wont work well for the holiday window bit.

Any help would be great as im not sure on this and don't want the hell of having to return a projector cause I was wrong.

The vid that caused all this lol
