Ubuntu OS

I am looking for an inexpensive OS system for a computer that I got from work (They were throwing them away), and I stumbled onto this Ubuntu OS on ebay for about ten bucks that is supposedly Linux. I have always heard good things about Linux, but up until now have never interacted with the Operating System. Would Ubuntu work with Vixen and the firmware contained in the Coop Boards?

I dont think it will work with Vixen but UBUNTU is free all you have to do is download it. Just like OpenOffice which is similar to MS Office but with a much nicer price tag. FREE. Check out http://www.ubuntu.com/ and http://www.openoffice.org/

In answer to your last question, no - you cannot use Vixen with Ubuntu (or any other Linux flavor for that matter). Vixen is built on the MS .NET platform. Last I heard, all the necessary .NET functions weren't supported by the windows emulator.

I don't know if Vixen will work on Linux with it or not, but there is Mono.

But Vixen notwithstanding, Ubuntu rocks. It's free, don't spend 10 bucks on it.

And if you have kids check out the education wrapped flavor, Edubuntu... Totally sweet thing to do with an old computer. Toss Edubuntu on it and give it to the kids.
