An importer is being actively worked. There will be a way to load vixen 2 sequences in ... It's just not ready yet.

Macebobo is the expert on that topic. He's working on it currently. And as little as I know about him so far, I know he's very thorough, so as soon as he's ready to release it, its sure to be good.

That would be pretty amazing, changing 2 completely different ways of sequencing to work together.

Boy - I hope not that long... I'm hoping we'll be in action with that before EASTER 2013!

I just reread the OP and now I'm not sure if I made a correct statement. Macebobo is working on vix 2 to vix 3 conversion. What system is the .tim format for? I know them better by name (rather than file format)

Well, some good news. In the short amount of time that I have actually gotten to work on this, I have been able to import some sequences and begin playing them, but there are some caveats. Vixen 3 is structured completely different than Vixen2, which in the long run will be a good thing (e.g. Imagine an input trigger being able to fire off an action regardless of what else is or is not happening in the background, I bet some of you Halloween folks will use this a lot!) However, being such an extensible system means that folks like me have a big learning curve before we become proficient with the framework KC and Michael have designed. I feel like I am reaching the top of that curve and will have the first cut at importing out very soon...well before Easter, even before St. Patrick's day! (Lord willing and the creeks don't rise)

What I am working on right now is the ability for the importer to infer what you are doing in a V2 sequence and translate that to the V3 paradigm. For example, in V2, a fade was composed of multiple cells of data with decreasing values. Conversely, in V3, this is one effect with a lighting curve applied to it. I've been able to infer a few things and move them to the V3 style and I am currently polishing these, which has been no small task because of the variety of possibilities in sequences out there, but I know how many hours I have spent in getting my sequences just right and I want to respect your data as if it were my own.

Another thing I will have to work on, is how we "map" your existing layout to the layouts used in V3 - but that is a story for another day. Back to the salt mines for me.
