    Default Ren-C question

Okay, again this is my first attempt at animated lighting and electronics. I have built my Grinch with the help of everyone here and it works. Now I want to add dimming, I have my Ren-C boards and componets and I am awaiting my Ren-t board from the coop. Now my questions. I have looked at the Wiki on these but still confussed. On the Ren-C I assume that I want to do case three, which list:

    Case 3
Connecting PC to first controller, converting to RS485 in the process
    D1, D2, D3, D4, D7, R1, R2, P1, JR1, U1, U2, U3, C1, C2 (omit shunts)

    1. Does this mean that I only need to solder on these componets?

    2. I will in the end have two ren-c, two grinch and one ren-t (correct?)

    3. So then going from computer (usb to serial) to ren-t then to first ren-c then to first grinch then to second ren-c then second grinch. (again correct?)

    4. Am I missing anything? Mistakes to watch out for?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
    Rick

As for the Ren-T.... If the Ren-C's it is providing the ZC signal to, are with in 100' of the Ren-T, you can use Case 1. If further than 100', then Case 3 is needed. Although, you can assemble it as Case 3 for both instances. The only difference between the two is Case 1 sends out a RS232 signal and Case 3 converts it to a RS485 signal.

Yes, only solder on the parts listed per Case, and don't forget the transformer, as it is used in all 3 builds.
