Default Feature Request: Automatic Audio Sequencing and other features from LSP

I'm still trying to get a handle on how to sequence. I've tried a few packages, and narrowed my choice down to using HLS or LightShowPro. I really love how responsive Joe is with updates of the software, but as a newbie to sequencing I feel LightShowPro makes it really easy to create a really great looking sequence with almost no work. Here are the features I'd like to see in HLS (that are features in LSP).

    1. The ability to grab a set of pixels and have their color intensity (brightness) set according the intensity of the sound. This is a great feature in LSP and makes it almost dead simple to make a great looking sequence. It would be even more cool if you could let me set a gradient across my intensity level. I've attached a picture that might make this more understandable.
    2. Stage-based Effects. LSP has the cool feature of having effects that can alter your pixels according to their location on your house (they call it the stage). So you can do cool fades and chases across all the strings on your house, its very cool.

LSP did get a bit of a head start - can you imagine what HLS will look like next year at this pace!?

A very ugly - but free method of doing what you want is available in Vixen called Waveform (it's a Tool). If you wanted to create the effect but use HLS as your main sequencer, you create the effect in Vixen and import the sequence into HLS. Again - not pretty but it would work. I don't think the tool is as complex as LSP's but give it a try - it's free...

since a lot of my programming is done based of sound intensity integrated to brightness intensity...this waveform tool would be wonderful...is it available for vixen 2.1?

Yep - I used it last year on my pixel window frame. For the one sequence, I did a waveform on the Red channels of the pixels and copied that to the Green. I then deleted the the bottom 1/3 of the Red and the top 1/3 of the Green and had a nice VU meter - worked great - very easy to do as well.

A word of caution about LSP. I purchase the program and abandoned it after using it for the past 5 months. The program isn't light weight and it lags badly. Many users have issues with the scheduler and this has been ongoing for a long time and was always supposed to be fixed in the updates but people still have problems. I just don't want to put so much effort in something to have it not work because of a scheduler issue. I used Vixen 2.1 last year but did not have any rgb's. I have some rgb's this year and that's what initially attracted me to LSP. I was attracted by all of the "bells and whistles" that LSP has and would love to see them in HLS. I am making the switch to HLS. I just think it's a shame I spent $100 for a program I'm not going to use.
