I have to thank you for this post. I have darn near the same set up with my porch and was trying to come up with a way of doing the same thing with coro.

My thought was just use the dumb RGB and go with two channels per column instead of pixels. That would give the alternating color option / any one color option. That and use the rectangle modules instead of the square.

Was there a reason you went with square over rectangle? Does it fill better with a square?

Are you doing any tricks for storage? Like the column pieces in half if you don't have the storage room to make them more manageable.

I have been debating on which module to use for a few weeks. What convinced me to go with the module listed was Dan Hurd's demo on the eight inch stars. I thought the coverage was good for the eight inches so should hopefully be fine for the 6" x 5" segment it will have to fill. I just got a quote from Ray Wu for that unit with 15cm (5.9") spacing center to center and he did not charge me extra, still $22.00 per 20 piece strip. I am getting 8 strips (only need five for the columns) and 20 4 core pigtails. Freight was $46.00 vs. $65.00 if I had not gotten a quote from Ray. Also these module have four smd5050's on them versus the three on dmoore's candy cane design.

I have a bunch of 1"x6"x8" cedar boards that I am going to use to support the coro columns (There are actually only three real posts on my porch) and yes I plan to hinge the coro at 48" so that it can be folded in half when taken down for storage.
First year up and running! Over 35,000 lights and 410 Total Channels of Blinky Flashy - 275 Channels Renard and 135 Channels of E1.31. All wireless. Show is just over 30 minute with 11 songs so far. Whew - What a first year!!
