First off do you have any idea what kind of display you want.
    Have you read the forums?

It would really be hard for anyone to help you with the very limited info you have given.

You will find that everyone is here to help but out so please dont take this the wrong way.

yes, I had used a system bought from homedepot last year but want to go bigger with more channels. I would like 12 or 16 channels and I will have trees, stars, arches ect hooked up to it.

Arches alone typically take 7 or more channels each to articulate. A simple tree could have up to 4 channels each (red, green, blue, white) assuming individual strings. Each element you want to control independent from the others takes a channel- 5 stars could take 5 channels for example. Pixels are a totally different thing.

Before you jump in, you need to spend some time thinking it out and researching. Read the WIKI, especially the beginner stuff. It is a huge investment in $ and time to "step up" from a Home Depot controller. Think before you leap.

    Hope this helps.

    Welcome to DIYC!

I would reccommend one of the standardized Renard controllers (Ren8SS, Ren16SS, or Ren24SS).
I also strongly agree with CaptKirk's suggestion to spend time in the Wiki to research what you want to do and how much time and money it'll take to make sure you are happy with the journey.

Your being to modest ..... just 1 ?

In December when i joined some one recommended 1 renard

i now have 7 of them

1 might just be to many because 7 isn't enough .

No matter which renard you choose you cant go wrong , the renard boards are of excellent value and have a great support group here at diyc

    Welcome Newbie

The WIKI is your best friend and the best place to get started. It will give you all kinds of ideas and dreams. I agree that any of the Renard controllers work great. And if you want to expand more next year, you are already well on your way. You also have to decide if you want to run control wires or go wireless. Both options are available. It just another option to think about. Sure cuts down on setup time, but it does increase the cost.

Beware, this hobby can suck you in if you let it. Some of us are in way to deep already, and there is not saving us. But thats ok because we love it.

One more thing, when you get a chance, in your profile, fill in your city so we know were you are at. A lot of times there are others that may live near by that can give you local advice if you need it.

Again, Welcome, and have fun with this. Its a great hobby/job.
