Thread: I want to draw your attention to these 96 RGB LED/WS2801 strips!

  1. Default I want to draw your attention to these 96 RGB LED/WS2801 strips!

In my hunt for bright RGB strips, I stumbled upon this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=e9nNeLBQojw
I asked the guy where he got these strips because I liked their brightness and he referred me to a guy who also carries the following strips (they are not the ones in the video) :
    http://scottled.en.alibaba.com/produ...12V_input.html

Each chip handles 3 individual RGB LEDs. They are available in IP63 and IP65. They run on 12VDC. They are $30/m each. The seller claims that there were specially designed for the London Olympic Games.

They were too expensive for me and also not quite adequate for my use, but I thought that some people here might be interested in them.

But these are 96 LED/32 Pixels per meter which is something I've not see before. Having that many LED I'm not supprised that they are very bright. They are wider and they would need to be waterproof before they would be useable however.

I'm talking to Ray about an some item I need so I'll ask him what he thinks they would cost using the WS2811 and could he build them waterproof. Just looking at the cost of the 5050 modules and the WS2811 IC your looking at $0.47 per pixel. So even before you build the strip that's $15.04 per meter or $75.20 per reel. I think your looking at a $100 strip which is too rich for my blood.

I will say that Ray is cranking out WS2811 products like gang busters. Every time I check his store there are more WS2811 products showing up.

The strips in the video are not the 96 LED strips. It just shows normal 32 LEDs strips that the guy who sells the 96 LEDs strips also sells (I put the link to the video so you could assess the brightness/quality of the 32 LED strips).

I would gladly order a reel if they were waterproof, but they are not :/ If someone decides to order them, posting a video would be great.
