    Actually RJ12 and MAX232
    6 conductors, only 4 used

    Not RJ45 and RS485

It happens when you are on the bleeding edge and start building your gear before the standards have evolved.
It worked for me, so I have stuck with it.

I did that on the modem trail. I'm trying not to go there again. Shouldn't be a problem in this case.

If at first you don't suck seeds

    Third times the charm.

OK if anyone missed it, the simple16 does not maintain the pins at 100% power 100% of the time, so the PICs in the strobes did not receive the constant power needed to run the strobe pattern.
Phil told me that the original PIC16f688 does operate this way, so I milled new replacement control boards.

This one works exactly like I expected it to, once I unreversed the receiver and transmitter pins on the MAX232.
It always has to be something.

These will be soo cool when fired with a 1/10 second delay between strobes.
Just a cascade of blinding light.

The garden was hit about a week ago.
They only got the top of the peas, and left the beets and beans alone this time.

The beets and the green beans have not been topped YET.

Probably just jinxed myself and everything will be eaten to the ground by tomorrow morning.

Might have been the garlic and rotten egg extract I sprayed them with earlier.
But after 4+ inches of rain, I think that has been more than washed off by now.

How about an update on the deterent value. I just had a deer come thru last nite, wiped out my garden and then went swimming in my grandkids brand new above ground swimming pool. Let's just say I had a big wet mess to deal with this morning

I think they got used to them.

    They like green tomatoes,
then they leave their insults behind.

Was going to add a servo controlled water nozzle that would sweep the area in a zig zag pattern, but never got around to it.

    Just no motivation this year.

Yes they like green tomatoes and cucumbers too. And it is hard to explain the hoof prints all over the 2 week old pool to the sales clerk when you return it. Oh well, now I have an in store credit gift card to spend on Christmas lights. I guess Santa sent a reindeer to get me too re-allocate that money

They haven't skipped a beat over it . The granddaughter is to young to know it's gone (she had more fun playing with box the pool came in than actually playing in the pool ) and the grandson was with me when we discovered the train wreck and helped me pack it up and take it back. He understood the situation and is cool with it. He is mad at the deer though. He's actually looking foward to helping me spend that gift card and see what further misadventures we can get into.
