    I know, I know ...
I just need time to go fix this. i do know what is wrong, it is not trivial, but i will get it fixed before june 16th.

I really appreciate seeign the nutcracker gif and the movie. I have no hardware and can only imagine what these would look like.

    thanks
    again

    The one called Merry Chrismas:

The letters are backwards in the GIF.
The video doesn't look like it at all. It looks like some kind of rainfall effect.

    Hi Earnie,

Great work on the video examples- Thank You!!

Could you enlighten the rest of us regarding the construction and make-up of your pixel tree?

    Many Thanks!

I kept a log of my process here

Only thing I have not covered is the wiring . I will probably do that this weekend.

    I. Love seeing effects on a real megatree, question (sorry if already answered) how many strands of lights? How far a part (spacing) LEDs? How many pixels per sting?

    There are two issues here
    1) You should only do text with 180 degrees ( i reverse direction when you do 360). I also did not believe you would want text showing through , even if you have a full tree.

here is your settings on my 32x50 half tree

    array_to_save
    username f
    user_target AA
    effect_class text
    effect_name TEXT2
    text1 Merry Christmas Everyone
    text2
    window_degrees 180
    text1_color #FF230A
    text2_color #FFFFFF
    frame_delay 50
    topPixel 20
    seq_duration 11
    show_frame n
submit Submit Form to create your effect
    OBJECT_NAME text

    2) This should make the gif look correct. The secod issue is a bug. Even though the gif shows correctly i shift each row of pixels whem i am creating the output file. This is a bug i will get around to fixing (soon).

Henedce, it is so cool to see the effects work. One small thing, i see that you modeled your RGB tree as 12 strings of 84 pixels and folded them once. So you have 24x42 pixels in a half tree.

If you really have a physical 24x42 half tree, you should model this as 24x84 strings, folded and then set the nutcracker window to 180. As you have found , everything works as expected but the animated gifs are showing lines from behind thre tree, since you had a 360 degree window.

What your tree has highlighted for me is that for the window setting, i may need to change the nutcracker to
    START_DEGREES?
    END_DEGREES?

Now you can pick a range. Normally I would expect 0 to 180. But what happens if my expected strand 1 is not the left hand corner of the tree? With two prompts you could adjust the 180 degree window to also be
    90 to 270 for example.

I am currently doing work reversing the LSP msq file format.

Following up on last thread. Using a 12x84 folded string on 360 degrees (24 strands x 42 pixels) versus a 24x84 folded tree (48 strands x 42 pixels) with a 180 degree window.

Here is the gif you have when u use a 12x84 string, folded into 24x42 and draw it with a 360 degree window.

here is the same as a 24x84 folded target which gives spacing of 48x42 with a 180 degree window. You'll notice the gif now matches the video much better.

Here is a comparison of the meteor4:

and finally, the animated gif effect. Looking into this, i see I somehow forgot the window_degrees prompt on this effect (Bug!). So when I picked 180 degrees with the effect, the effect was shifted 90 degrees (Bug!). I have fixed both of these.
I still need to add autoscaling to the gif effect (somethign that is on my large to do list). But here is the australia flag on
48x42 360 degree vs 24x42 180 degree. The animated gif is getting clearer.

I saw you playing tonight . I will do some more tomorrow night and video some more footage. Just a time thing . I cant imagine the hours you have put in coding this. I know how long it takes just to create the individual routines and create the sequences. Mad props to you .
I was playing with HLS tonight with some interesting results (I will post video later when it finishes uploading). I realise the output files are still a prototype but thought I would see where its at. Joe has done some amazing work with HLS and I look forward to playing more with it over the next few weeks . Between the 2 of you blinky flashy is entering a whole new era and if my guess is right I may not need to upgrade my show computer so more money for pixels

Sean, The first two, the spiral and the meteor the bottom shows the front half of the tree (arced down) but the flag is showing the back half of the tree (arced up at the bottom). Seems like they should be the same. Maybe you already know about it but just in case you didn't notice here ya go.
