was thinking about making a star but attaching to some black coro.

might do a single line of rgb, or triple lines of rgb.

triple I am sure would give more of the exploding effect.

The star is beautiful! I may just have to build one for my tree. If my calculations are correct, you had 216 wire connections on the strips. I just started to experiment with dumb RGB strips about a month ago. Did you solder the wires to the top of the strips or to the bottom? Last question is what controller are you using to drive the DCSSR's?

    Regards,
    Gary

    Gary,

I attached the wires to the top of the strip. In hindsight, attaching to the bottom would have been better and easier.

I am using the Ren48LSD and DC SSRs. All items, other than the star, are (obviously) from my store.

I will also be using this star to experiment with RGB amplifiers to see how well they function with the Ren48LSD. If they work well I will be adding them to the store as well.

Just curious about this "exploding " star ( or any of them ) ... why not use a few extra leds on a strip and have them go on , in sequence when the last ( outer ) ring lights up ? Meaning , say that at the end tip/corner of each stars point , have a strip ... say ... a foot long or so with about 6 or more individual bright LEDs on it . And have the LED strip power on when the last outer section of the star "bursts" . Then it would look like the star really did burst ? Have one strip at each corner and maybe one in between on the inside points/corners . All that would be involved would be a few LEDs , a little skinny strip of of breadboard and either a chip or some caps to fire each LED on a strip off one at a time in sequence ( of course , have LED # 1 on all strips fire and then #2 on all stripsstar1.jpg and so on and so forth ) ? I'm not really good at drawing pics , so kinda excuse the one that I made kinda quick . The numbers represent the LEDS
