    Default Donation Time Again Folks!

It won't be long before a year has passed since the donation program was put in effect...

Donating once is a very good thing... but..... it's getting around to the time when you might want to consider doing it again.
Operating costs are pretty much ongoing things.... soooooo...

.... if you donated in 2011, that's Great!

This is 2012. Might you be willing to do it again?

Good thread so I'll bump it and add some comments and ideas as one of the newbies around here.

I joined up as a member here in Dec 11. I finally got around to becoming a supporting member yesterday 5/31/12 to take part in the upcoming SSR group buy but mainly because while as a non-supporting member, I have had several transaction with members here and the outcome has always been positive. Not with standing group buy privliges, I have found the members here honest and helpful so this site is well worth the $20 a year. So if your a newbie hesitant about paying $20 to become a supporting member, go ahead and do it. The math works!!! I populated my first SSR8 on my own thru Mouser and payed $45+ for the BOM, the group buy rate is around $26 last time I checked. I got 7 more boards to populate so group buy it is for me.

As far as donating to DIYC above and beyond the $20 a year, I'd like to float the following proposal/ idea/ challenge. The way I handle PayPal is that I do the good old go to Walmart thing with cash in hand and buy a Greendot Paypal card to fund my account. After I get done with all my online shopping, I usually have some weird amount left over like $3.41, $7.59, $4.73 ect.... that will sit in the account for a month until I use it again. So when I get these oddball amounts leftover, I'm going to commit to donating them here and challenge everybody else to do the same. After all, it's just pocket change from the bedside table that is floating around the internet unused so lets put it to good use.
