    Default Old Hardware Question: Renard8

I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the PCB Files for the Renard8. The one I am taking about is the http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com...?title=Renard8. I would like to study it a little bit and get an understanding of how the Renard controllers function. I feel that this Renard8 is simplistic enough for me to look at and not be overwhelmed.

    Thanks, cparsons2391

Well - the schematic for the RenardSS8 (and 16, 24) are in the Wiki which was the basis for the original Renard8 - probably a lot easier to look at that versus the PCB files.

edit - well - guess you already have a schematic (didn't actually click on the link above...) - but my comment still holds.

The pcb file is shown on your link. Red is componet side, blue soder side.

Just keep in mind that the Renard 8 schematic is doing a couple of things differently then what is on the RenardSS series(and I believe most current boards).
First off, Phil is using a different RS485 chip(it handles transmitting and receiving the signals) and the Zero Cross setup is different.

You can also find some more information at Revive the Ren8.

The RS485 driver chip (SN75179) is a separate transmitter and receiver section thus you do not have to worry if you have the other chips wired properly for full duplex. The SN75179 is a bit more expensive than the SN75176 and its clones. It is a simpler chip to wire though.
