Thread: LSP or LOR

    Default LSP or LOR

Debating on replacing my "Aurora" software with either LSP or LOR. My controllers consist of 10 D-light AC-16, 4 DC-16 and a newly acquired E681. Reading the SanDevices web site I'm also deciding on weather to purchase their ELOR, I have not decided to convert my D-Light controllers over to DMX. (Don't know if it works with the D-Light controllers). Any suggestions on making this all work would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I can speak from experience with LOR only. I currently have 3 ELORs, 3 E681s and 14 LOR controllers. All play nice together on 4 LOR networks. I'm only loading the E681s with about 50% capacity due to the LOR network bandwidth issues. There is a possibility that the ELOR firmware will be updated to improve on this issue but there are no details about that at this time. Also, LOR has suggested they will be releasing a version of S3 sometime this summer with E1.31 capability. Your guess is as good as mine about the usefullness of this release, and it's compatability with DIY hardware. Their track record has not been DIY friendly.

    Kevin,
We must have started by reading the same materials. I have done two seasons now. I have 6 d'light acx16 controllers. I ran Aurora my first year and switched to LSP for year two. While the learning curve is steep, I am very satisfied with my choice. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy. No Wireless, no DMX , no pixels. My switch to LED from incans is my quantum leap. I used the Wii guitar "Lightshow Hero" last year with great results. A very mild winter in Minneapolis helped but I had people cheering, blowing their horns, applauding...just having fun watching the live performances. I also incorporate video with LSP. The support desk is a bit slow but helpful and they resolved my questions/ issues completely. I didn't see where you are located but I'm hosting the Mini for the Twin Cities on June 2. If you are close look me up.

Remember that LOR software is primarily written for LOR hardware users, LSP will allow a lot more options and choices
