    Fully agree... setup a page in the WIKI and those who want an ID can add themselves as the "nth+1" entry.
    No need to waste ID's on people who aren't even aware of the START byte and/or what it means.

    I just found this thread. One feature that I'm interested in handling is the ability to have two devices on a universe with the exact same DMX addresses.

    Example of use: I have mirror displays on two sides of the house.

    They would have unique device id's but can they both have the same start/end addresses using this 'standard' you are creating?

    You can have two devices with the same DMX address now but with the UIDs you could still access each one to make changes something you cannot do currently.
