Where can I get some leds for the ledtriks that are cheap and bright enough to be seen in the day time?
Where can I get some leds for the ledtriks that are cheap and bright enough to be seen in the day time?
Any help????????????????
I've never used these in a Ledtriks but here's where I get my led's from.

no idea how the normal LEDs would look in the day time.
However, you seem to be asking for the impossible...CHEAP and SUPERBRIGHT...they do not exist in the same universe.
For what it is worth, the LED's suggested in the construction notes for the LedTricks panels, although very bright at night are virtually useless in the daylight from my experience. I have been considering wether LED's with the same spec'd brightness and a frosted lens rather than the water clear lens would do the trick ?? Just pondering, as I had hoped that my pair of LedTricks panels would be of use in the daytime as well :-)

The frosted LEDs are normally listed as "defused" and are not as bright as the clear.
I have considered trying out some dark red window film to see if it improves the triks in daylight. Something like the red bezel on a LED calculator.

Hi Graig,
That had passed through my mind as well, I guess as a trial a sheet of transparent Red Cellophane across the front would be worth a go and see how it works :-)

I'm far from an LED expert, but aren't the greens and blue LEDs a lot brighter than the reds? Does the color matter at all here? I made my triks using blue wide-angle clear leds and while it's not really visible if the sun is shining directly on it, it is defiantly readable during the day if kept in the shade. I'd imagine if you'd get LED's with a narrow field of view (think 40 degrees or less) than it would be even brighter. With all that said, the cheapest sources I've found are on eBay.
Keeping it mounted so that it is always in "shadow" was my approach. I stuck it over the garage door, but under the eaves. Net result, can be read during the day or night, and is/was well protected from the elements. Hope to double it's size this summer, by adding another length of pegboard, and a second triks controller.
