Default RPM DMX 16 DCssr Help

    Hi All,
I am looking for help on RPM DMX 16DCssr board.
Can I modify the board to run 5 volts. If so what do I need to do.

    Thanks

    Colin

Yes, the board can run on 5 volts as long as it's regulated and no higher than about 5.5vdc (the maximum voltage the processor can handle). You would need to bypass the on-board regulator (leave some of the components off the board) to do this.

I don't have the schematic in front of me, so I'll have to look it up and get back to you on this.

FWIW, I attempted it last holiday season and failed (as I do at so many things). I did have the schematic but apparently didn't understand the PS module correctly.

I'm heartened that Robert thinks it can be done ... I've still got the board around here somewheres ;-) ...

Should be easy enough.... remove IC5 and add a jumper between the pads for pins 1 & 5. If building specifically for 5v input you can also delete C1,D2 & L1.

    Thanks Robert,
    I will try this week.
I Can not find IC 5 but have a IC 7 (LM2574). I am guessing that pin 1 is where the dot is.
Can I leave in C1,D2 and L1?. or are they best to be let out. Do I need to bridge them as well.
Also will you be making more circuit boards for this year?. Looking for some dmx 8dcssr.

    Thanks
    Colin

You are correct, I meant IC7 (LM2574) not IC5. I just rechecked it, and it seems I was looking at an earlier version of the schematic with different parts designations. Yes, pin 1 is marked by a dot on the board.
If you already have C1,D2,L1 installed you can leave them in. It won't cause a problem with them in, but they aren't needed if removing the regulator (LM2574) IC.
