We will live with my 30 second resource limit on meighan.net , for the time being.

    This prompt
How many meteors to launch each frame (1 to total pixels on your tree. Numbers ike 6-12 are reasonable.):
Each frame, this many meteors will be randomly launched on your tree

This directly increases the time of the effect generation. I use values 6-12 , and i fit.
Also if your target tree has more pixels, it will take more time.

I might suggest everyone have one target that is smaller, say 32x40 BOT/TOP and use that for trying effects. When you get what u like , just select your larger target and apply your effect to it.

I'm sad that my model builds so quickly I guess that means I don't have enough pixels!
    5 houses using:
    Renard 64, 3 Ren24's, Ren8
    4 E682 pixel controllers
    2,300 WS2801 pixel nodes
    1200 dumb RGB

    Added one more option

random_colours =1, then every pixel in the meteor is a different color
random_colours=2, random color for the meteor, but the hue is kept the same

any other value the the meteor will start with your start_color and finish with your end_color.

    here is random_colours=2

    _POST
    username f
    user_target ZZ_ZZ
    effect_class meteors
    effect_name METEOR4
    window_degrees 360
    start_color #FF1100
    end_color #380101
    frame_delay 11
    sparkles 5
    maxPhase 7
    seq_duration 5
    maxMeteors 3
    random_colours 2
submit Submit Form to create your effect

    random_colours=1
    _POST
    username f
    user_target ZZ_ZZ
    effect_class meteors
    effect_name METEOR5
    window_degrees 360
    start_color #FF1100
    end_color #380101
    frame_delay 11
    sparkles 5
    maxPhase 7
    seq_duration 5
    maxMeteors 3
    random_colours 1
submit Submit Form to create your effect

and finally any other number and we will look to start and end colors

Sean having blast playing with this, just a few observations or misunderstandings on my end.

Meteor effect seem to be downloading to vir files correctly.- Cool stuff.
I am noticing txt routines do not appear to be accurate once converted into vixen preview.
Gif preview appears normal for txt routines.

Also all garland effects are downloading a blank vir for me, i also get the error,
Warning: opendir(workspaces/klyneshouse) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /users/meighan.net/htdocs/nutcracker/effects/make_vixen.php on line 202

Also general question, seems that if editing existing effect of any type, and resubmitting, changes are not always made.
Should one always rename existing and create new rather than trying to edit ?
If so will a delete option be available ?

    Ill have to check,

    This is a bug

    I get the same think
Nutcracker: RGB Effects Builder for user
On this page you create output files for the sequencers

Calling read Target: Elapsed time = 0.00107 seconds
Finished read Target: Elapsed time = 0.00112 seconds
Finished filling dat_file_array: Elapsed time = 0.09073 seconds
Limiting current sequences to 1000 frames

11 seconds of animation with a 1 ms frame timing = 1000 frames of animation

0 channels have been created for Vixen <= this should not be a zero.

Click here for Vixen vir file. workspaces/2/ZZ_ZZ+GARLAND3.vir

Click here for Vixen csv file. workspaces/2/ZZ_ZZ+GARLAND3.txt

Total Elapsed time for this effect: Elapsed time = 16.39489 seconds

Also general question, seems that if editing existing effect of any type, and resubmitting, changes are not always made.

I dont rename, and when i make a change it sticks. Steve gase also reported not having his changes made. Now, i do have fields that come back blank when i reclick. This is a bug i will fix

If so will a delete option be available ?

Delete option (for targets, effects, gif files) is on my todo list
    See above
