Snyc Lights on a Dollhouse?

Hello-

I just found this website and am a little overwhelmed by all of the information. So, I thought I would just post my question and am hoping someone will be able to help me.

I am building an Advent Calendar Dollhouse (sort of like the one in Christmas Vacation) for my Daughter and Wife. I would like to do something like all of you do on your real houses but on a much smaller scale. I would like to do this cheaply and probably will only need four channels. I would like to sync to my laptop or ipod and really just need the lights to move to the music like lights do on the front of an equalizer (or something similar).

How many lights are we talking about?
I remember my first try at blinking lights was parellel cable with leds directly wired 8 channels lol

Maybe ten strands of 25 of the skinny small lights. So maybe 250 lights all together.
