Thread: Wrapping Arches

    Default Wrapping Arches

Need some ideas on wrapping 100ct minis around 3/4 gray conduit. The light spacing on the minis causes the lights to be perfectly 180 from each other. I would end up with 2 rows of 50 lights. I've tried different wrapping methods to get it more random, but nothing looks good. Have others had this problem? Solutions?

Try folding the string in half or thirds before wrapping.

Exactly right - find the midway point - offset if necessary and wrap from the middle - this has the added benefit of requiring half as much turning and getting the job done twice as fast!

I seen this vid and his method of wraping short sections seems like it would make any ez fix if one needed to replace a burned out or problem strings etc

and as someone else pointed out in another thread... If one of the 50ct sections goes out, it won't be as noticable.

Another approach would be to wind/unwind the strings a little. For example, to shorten the spacing between bulbs wind the wires a few more times, or unwind them a few times to lengthen it.

Depending on how much you want to change it, you could also try wrapping loosely vs. tightly - that might be just enough to stagger them.

What if you ate using 50 count led strings, does the folding in half method still work. Does anyone know where to get 100 count led strings? Every store I go to only has 50 count or the o asional 60 count led string.

Try CDI. They have 70 and 100 count.
