    Default Hanging strobe light

I built my own C9 strings for my strobes and I had a few, because of the weight, pull out of the string ever so slightly and shut off. Are there any tricks to prevent that from happening?

Also what is the difference between the U and the I bulb?

    Thank you,

    Jason

    Jason,

I have used many C9 sockets and have not had this problem. Are you sure you had to proper socket for you wire?

The U tube is 8 watts and the I tube is 6. The U tube is a little brighter.

    Thanks
    Todd

I had the right socket. I guess I just didn't clamp it down hard enough to keep it together. I did have issues with putting the C9 sockets on and breaking a lot of them. I asked about a method to put them on that worked better and it was suggested to use an 11" C-Clamp vise grip on them to squeeze them together. I thought it would be more of a weight issue with these.

    Thank you

I haven't tried it myself but, I have heard that you can take a blow drier and heat the wire up a little, then squeeze the socket on to the wire. Be sure not melt the wire or, burn your hand. I think I saw that on an old car web site.

Isn't there some sort of snap-lock on these sockets? If you are confident you will not neet to remove the sockets, I would use super glue on the two parts. I took a couple C9 strands that I bought on clearance. I removed all but every 3rd socket and sealed the vampire holes with liquid electrical tape.

Yes these do lock into place. I'm thinking he didn't have both sides locked in place. I had 12 strobes swinging in my megatree and had zero failures.
