Thread: Run lights button?

    Default Run lights button?

    Hi Everyone,

Has anyone thought about a button of sorts that people passing by can press to activate the lights rather than them going crazy all the time?

It would just need to send an F5 keystroke I guess?

You could build one of these and have it send F5.

You could also use a motion sensor if you wanted a more automated approach (which could be good or bad, depending on thecircustances). I think I've read that some of the Hallowe'en displays have been using that technique.

I've pondered the same thing, from time to time. If I did it I would use the parallel trigger and simply ground a pin. That assumes however, one actually has a parallel port.

You can either hack up an old keyboard and wire the switch to that (which I've done), or you can use windows accessibility "serial keys" which converts serial signals into keyboard commands.

Similar to the button idea, I was thinking about allowing people to send a text messages to start the show which avoids them having to leave their car.
