    Default Quality of GECE lights

I picked up a few sets of these today and so far I've opened 2. Both are going to be returned. One has a bulb which has an "off" white instead of white. Another set has a bulb that doesn't light.

Is this common? Are the quality of these things crap? Should I invest the amount of money these things cost in some other sort of pixel solution?

I can only speak for myself. I have 5 strings so far, and have had no quality issues. I have not heard about any quality issues, but obviously that does not mean they do not exist.

Last year, with a lot of time and effort, I was able to locate 16 GECE 50-bulb strands. Of the 800 bulbs, one had a slightly red look (couldn't even call it a tint, just a bit of a red point of light among the largely white light) when displaying white and only if looked at at a particular angle through the diffuser lens. That was the only imperfection that I found.

Maybe this years run is being made more cheaply after they became hugely popular last year so they can make more profit this year. Or maybe you just got some bad strings. (Note: I don't have any of these, just my opinion.)

I got two this year and was impressed with the quality. Sounds like you may have gotten a bad batch. -- John

Well, I exchanged the 2 bad ones yesterday, didn't get a chance to plug in the new ones yet. I asked the man at the return department said I was the first to return them this year, but I'm probably one of only a few who bought some this year. Time will tell! Thanks everybody for the replies.

Go figure, of the 2 new sets, 1 set has about half of the lights out. My guess, 1 light is bad enough that it's not passing the data or power on to the rest of the lights. I think the pallet at my local costco was dropped or something???
