Dumb question, but did you check the LED voltages before bypassing their board? My lights have a 600ma power supply and the LED's seem to be pulling the voltage down to the required point, but I did see other lights on ebay that came with a 1000ma supply. That might be enough to cause the need for a resistor on all three leads. I just lucked out and my power supplies all had their ratings labeled on them but some others dont.
Just went back and checked the page I ordered from and it was supposed to have a 1000ma driver, just did not get what was posted. Not smart enough to get the ebay page shown here, but search for item #260969208136 and look at the relisted item that might help getting you the right specs to work from. PS.-They do also list just the LED lights and if you look through them they show one with higher forward voltages.
couldnt resist any longer, hard wired the red and blue on direct and put all four in front of my house, the house is 85' long adn I spaced all four along the front. WOW I love it!!
