Default Helix Controlling LEDTriks via Triks-C

I finally found some time to work on getting the Helix to control LEDTriks panels. TimW provided a lot of information about the Triks-C protocol and how the LEDTriks sequences are stored in Vixen. 51FordF2 loaned his two LEDTriks panels to me for testing/development. I want to thank both of them for their support.

There is still a lot to do but I've uploaded a quick demo video to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Md8bwfwrtg).

I'll be busy the next couple of weeks but after that I will be looking for advice from the existing LEDTriks users on how they use or would like to use the LEDTriks in their display. This will drive how I develop the GUI and Helix firmware.

The group buy interest thread didn't garner much interest. I haven't seen much interest since then either. So I don't have any plans for a group buy. I do have the PCBs available if you would like some.

    Hey Greg,

I'm looking at adding a LEDtriks board to my display this year. All I'm planning on using it for is a "tune to" sign, as well as something along the lines of "Merry Christmas from Lights on Luna". Did you ever finish up the GUI and firmware as discussed in the first post?? I'll be using the v3 boards.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mike,

I'm sorry for taking so long to respond. I was busy with personal and family obligations this weekend.

The short answer is no. I'll provide the long answer after work this evening

I haven't done any LEDTriks coding/testing since I developed the basic driver. However, that driver only works by itself, i.e. it isn't integrated with a sequence. I can probably make it work in between sequences only but this won't work for a tune to sign since it will be off whenever the sequences are playing.

I'm still trying to get my head around how to use a Vixen channel to trigger a LEDTriks sequence. If I can figure this out then I can use the driver I've developed to integrate it with the sequences.

I've identified Triks-C support as a near term priority to work on. I will try to get something working well before the Christmas season for you to test and get comfortable with.

Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks for all that you do for us!

will I be able to run LEDTriks via Triks-C off a dauther board or does it need a channel bank all on its own and what do I set the bank for Helix, Renard or DMX? Just planning everything out.

    Thanks For all you do

The Triks-C function isn't active on the Helix just yet. I'm still hoping I can get it all incorporated this year. When it does become active it will only work on a Helix Network Node board (too much going on to support it with the Helix Network Controller board) and only on Channel Bank 4 (I'm allowing an intentional buffer overflow into the MP3 buffer since it isn't used on a HNN). However, it will support up to 4 Triks-C boards off of that port.

Hurry up then, the only way i can get the bank (wife) to release funds for this year is if i can totally eliminate the wires going into the house.
