I recently aquired this o-scope. Wondering if it's worth the cost of the new probes that I will have to buy or if it's junk. I don't suppose anyone has a manual lying around?

Hi:
Try this for a manual. It is in PDF format.

You don't have to pay Tektronix prices for probes. Look around on Ebay. There are a lot there.

I'd check it out before buying probes. You should be able to try out the diff modules by tying one end to ground. If the mainframe is good, you may want to look into some other plugins to replace the vertical ones if you can get them cheap (you can get up to 4 channels by using two dual channel ones). The 5A18N is a dual channel single-ended plugin; the 5A15N a single channel one. Both have BNC connectors, so the take standard probes. Since the maximum bandwidth of this scope is 2MHz, even the cheapest probes out there are fine. There are some for about $10 (or 2 for under $20) on eBay; just make sure they come with at least the ground clip and witches hat, as those are the accessories you need the most.
Is it a great scope? The 2MHz bandwith will limit its usefulness now days, but its better than nothing, and for the cost of a set of cheap probes, I think it is worth keeping, at least until something better shows up.
