    Default Pole color question

    Hello Everyone....

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or prior experience with a MT pole that is a light color....in my case a hue roughly like that of an aluminum extension ladder.

My pole is going to serve 2 purposes....it is a telecopic flag pole so on national holidays it will fly the stars and stripes and of course at Christmas time it will be the trunk of my MT....

Since it will serve as flag pole at times I hate to paint it black....so I was wondering how distracting it will appear as a tree trunk.....

    20' with 96 strands of 70 ct C6's....btw...

Any insights would be good to hear.....thanks

    SC

You'll be happy to hear no one will notice it silver. So don't paint it. So is that 32 three color strings, 24 four color strings or 16 six color strings? I hope it's 32, makes it very full looking ;-)

Worse case scenario, you could always wrap it in garland or something similar. I would have to agree though, that it won't be noticed.

My mini-mega tree (10ft) uses my post hole digger extensions as the center pole. I don't even knock the dirt off it.

I'm also going to say that it won't be noticed. I used galvanized steel pipe for mine the last couple of years and it's not noticeable. I've pretty much learned that when it comes to stuff in the yard, if it doesn't have lights directly on it, it won't be easily seen.

Day ...a pole with christmas lights on it
    Night.. unseen

My mini-mega's used metal electrical conduit as trunks. When dark, your eyes are drawn to the light.

I agree. Absolutely no one will see it.

If you want it more festive looking in the daytime, wrap it with garland. Hint: Use Pre-lit or normal green garland and add your own colored minis. You'll have an additional display element to sequence. Do it in segments and you can make the pole 'explode' into the tree - like a fireworks 'fire trail'.

As for another train of thought, I painted my center pole (3" plastic pipe) the same color as I painted the bottom ring. No it is not seen at night, but as my ring was grey plastic and the pole was white plastic, my anal side wanted a more pleasing look during the day. It is right out my front door and it seemed like the right thing to do. It is all personal preference.
