I think that would work. That's essentially the kind of setup I plan to test. In wireless mode, using a regular XBee module will require less current than a Pro model and leave more juice for the rest of the board but even at 12ma/channel, that 96ma total is pushing the PIC16F688 pretty hard -- that's right at the very edge of what the PIC can manage... of course, you don't have to drive the units at 100% either.... I doubt you'd notice much difference between 90% and 100% in terms of brightness and that would put your current draw on the pic down into the mid-80's... a little breathing room there...

that is the total current on the +5 volt supply,,, there is only about 3 to 4 ma across the PN2222a and about 9-10ma on the 5 volt supply for each strobe module,,, so 3-4ma on each channel of the PIC and 9-10ma on each strobe module is about 12-13ma total on the +5 volts

There is going to be a few hundred of them ordered very soon, we had to make a small change on the PCB's, the pot was wired backwards on the first PCB's so min. and max. was reversed ...

I have added code for testing to the first post if anyone wants to give it a go, it is pretty much the same code used on the Simple Renard 16 except it is setup for LED's.

That's how I set mine up and I also like the ability to fade them on and off at times.
