    Default Some Christmas Lights Questions

Now that all the display is in boxes on the stands of the garage I have some questions for the next year display that i want to ask:

-In the forum I seen the LED strobs, the price of them is the same of a normal strob?
Where to get the board, components...?

-This year i had one grinch in the garage for all the show, but for the next year, i want to have a controller on the roof for reduce the number of cables that go betwen the garage to the roof. What is the best option? I don't need alot of chanels, I think 16 or 24 will be ok.

And the last question, i like the idea of the ledtricks, but make the panel is dificult? I don't found any information for understand how it works and how to make it.

well my information might not be as of help or i might have miss understood but the only thing i am knowledgeable to answer is the 16 or 24 channels on the roof.....to be honest thats a good idea if you have a lot of things on the roof, i mean why not and correct it will reduce the amount of wires moving vertical from the roof to the ground...the best controller and most simplistic one that only requires power and data is the RenSS series boards either in 8 , 16 , or 24 channels so it will work perfectly for what you need...and as of the beginning of Feb James is going to do a group buy on them as well good time to get them cheap hope this info helps and is not too newbie for you

    Hi rogerv,

I would contact morta, he is in Spain also and I believe he made some changes to his controllers to accommodate the 220/230 volt configurations, Send him a PM and I'm sure he will pass on some helpful information.

haha, i was morta, but the last week I asked to macrosill if he can change my username to rogerv

I maked changes for the grinch, because the only thing that I changed were the resistors of the SSR board and the optos.
but, with the ren ss is more dificult because I think that I need to change transformer, resistors, optos and the resistors of the ZC, and probably any other things.

And, ho have information about the led strobs?

You might want to look into Frank's Ren-24
    http://doityourselfchristmas.com/wik...y_Instructions
It was designed to run on 120 or 240volts.

That's right I remember last week you making a request to change your name....
Some of the other members will probably chime in on you questions as I have not used the Ren SS boards. Good Luck.

i was on the website but don't works well so I can't read about these board. But for the pic of the board, it seems to be more dificult to solder and use than the SS, and i don't now about the price.
I'm thinking to buy the ss24 board on the group buy and when it arrives see what I need to change and buy the components at mouser.
