Rope lights SUCK!!!!

This year I have absolulely had it with rope lites. I have one segment out in almost every one-EVEN 4 sets of BRAND NEW ONES!!! I have several custom dual color ropes that are also unusable. They are hard to repair, they are expensive, and clearly they are not very durable...THERE MUST BE A BETTER OPTION or a better rope light! ANyone have any suggestions?
