    Exclamation PicKit 2 Starter Kit

Does the DV164120 direct from microchip include the ICSP 18/20A pin Adapter or is that something extra that they add to the ebay kit?

It is the Starter Kit, and it comes with a 20 pin socket.

The one here on ebay shows an extra little cable that I do not see on the microchipdirect website. What is that cable for and is it included in the stater kit and maybe it just isnt shown in the picture?

You are looking at two different kits. They both do the same thing. I personally would get the one from the Ebay link, for the ZIF socket. Much more gentle on the IC pins.

To answer n8huntsman's question about the cable a little more directly, that cable is to mate the PICkit2 to the ICSP adapter board. If you notice, the one sold by microchip has right-angle header pins so you can slide the PICkit onto the break-out board. The one on eBay will attach at a 90 degree angle, or you use the included ribbon cable to mate the PICkit and break-out board.

I have the kit Wayne J recommends from eBay and it works great.

One of our Members is a reseller and also makes a programming board for it. Contact j1sys. You will see his ads on eBay as well. Maybe not as Cheap, but it gets shipped from middle America and you will get it in days, not weeks.

The kit I have listed on Ebay is from him. It is his Ebay store. ;)
