    Default Is is just me?

I have 90 SSR's in use this year, about 16 of the SSR-OZ, and 68 of the SSR-EZ (and a few DC). IIRC, the BOM for the EZ calls for a vertical jack. Most of the gremlins I have had to chase have been due to cable issues. I use about 5 - 6" of Cat 5 inside the enclosure, bent back over to the front so the plug can slide into the jack. Once in a while I end up with a bad wire to jack connection at that point. Is anyone else having this kind of problem? I am not dogging Chris, as I think the EZ's are fantastic, I love the mounting terminals for the channel wires & the fuse holders, just curious about the issue I am having.

I used a mix of top and side entry jacks on mine depending on what enclosuer I planned to use it with. I have still had some wire failures on both.

All I lack is to finish but I've been busy. Not all channels are used.

Randy, I was wondering the same thing about the jack orientation (considering the ez was designed for the TA-200) I built 24 ssrez this year....6 failures during testing (before I started adding 1/2 mile of extra cat5 to relieve strain).
Some of my issues were inside the jack and some were in the plug. All occured after I tried to close the enclosure. Wire was bent to go through the grommet, I just left the grommet out and looped the cat5 about 400 times.

OK so I didn't use 1/2 mile of cable looped 400 times, but it was more that I expected to use.

I thought it was just me!

All my relays are side entry and I have not had issues like you describe. I have 2 Ren24s and 5 Ren64s that utilize vertical entry rj45s but the enclosure covers have enough room that they do not press on the cables. It sounds like you need more clearance in your enclosures.
    Thanks,

2013 stats, if all goes as planned:
    2688 pixels, 4 E68x, 1450 RGB leds, 90 DMX channels

When I built my first SSRez, I notices that a vertical jack would be a problem, so I went ahead and used side entry. This allows me to use the gromet and not crimp the wire, although it is a sharp bend.

If I'm not mistaken, Chris is redesigning the board, so that the mounting holes will match up better to the cable entry point.
