The start address is flashed into the pic on my controllers.

I built boards to take the dmx in, pass it out to the next controller and the ren64. I do not use the data out on the ren64.
    Thanks,

This is really good stuff guys... Thanks!

I appreciate all of the inputs. I know that I need to be familiar with vixen and sequencing, and to be honest, even though that may be the determining factor for you, I, on the other hand, will learn it either way.

From what I am hearing all over is that people have a stronger preference toward Lynx, but no real hardcore reason to spend that much more money .

So I think i am going to go with the Ren ss24's people say they are tried and true.

we will see how things go...

I am already looking at expanding my power box in my house.

Thanks again everyone!! you guys ROCK!

The differance between the two is the amps per ch that can be driven,
the Lynx can operate up to 4 amps per ch with heat sink up to 40 per controller.
I dont think all renard boards can do that.

No - not all but the Ren24HC can do 8A per channel and up to 40A per controller - - but since more and more folks are going LEDs I'm not sure this is a huge factor for a lot of the new stuff going in these days. The RenSS come in 8/16/24 channel sizes which is a plus and they handle 2A per channel which is sufficient in probably 90+% of the cases unless you're lining the place with C9's...

I would not put the expensive into expansion of your power. Put hat money into purchasing LED strings. I'm running 30000 minis on 4 15 amp circuits without an issue. I simply have a 220 30AMP temporary panel hooked to my box. I expect my power needs to go down with transition to LEDs.

The likelyhood is that you will be mostly LEDs and therefore will need far less power. Many large LED displays could be run on a single 15 AMP circuit.

A neighbor down the street has 10,000 Static LEDs in his display. He has one Light Duty extension cord coming out the window from a living room outlet.

Unless you have ton's of extra cash, don't over-do it. Its just more money you can spend on LEDs and controllers.

where is the documentation for this board? I need one, just one, to drive some display elements that are going to have motors in them. I need a total of 8 to 10 channels that can handle more than the standard 2 amps per channel.

Right... that is understandible and i agree... however, i have NO open circuits in my house as i have 100 amp service... I am not upgrading the service, just oging to get a box with more breaker slots... i have 0 available... and since i am in the box, I am going to run 2 4 gang boxes hardwired to the front yard, and probably include RJ 45 terminations...

I can do this whole upgrade for like around 250... cause i am not changing service, and the box comes with the breakers i need for 130 at lowes...

I do agree, and I am oging to try to get up and runnin with LED's but that is a lot of money I got to find some more deals!!

http://store.kostyun.com/product.php?id_product=26 - it says they are in stock as well... I can't say whether it will meet your needs wrt to motor control or not but you may want to contact Frank (fkostyun) for more info.

Would you be willing to share this design with the rest of us? Or is it already posted on here somewhere?
