    Default Your Broadband Store

As I has posted previously, I am working with Arris directly to see if they will give me pricing that is attractive enough that I can buy in bulk and sell these in smaller quantities.

I will have invest several thousand dollars of my own funds to make this work. However, if the interest is there, I will do it. I am trying to be upfront about this as I will consider this a business venture and I will have make some profit from it.

This post is basically an interest thread to see if this will work at all. I know that some members here on this site have a major issue with a "for profit venture" from one of the members. If you do have problems with this, then please feel free not to participate. However, for those who do not object, I do think that we can keep our total costs down with this approach.

I would like to know what the interest is so please give me some feedback on what your future purchases would look like.

    Thanks,
    Chris

I think you have proven yourself trustworthy with your other Group Buy and Wiki work. I would support whatever you do. Business or non-profit.

Of course, you could have done all that work, just so you could steal our money 2 years later on this crooked Enclosure Skeem!

I'm certain that I would purchase whatever I needed from you. Right now for 2011, I'm guessing that would be many 200's, 1000's, and whatever the Long box is (1500 or 2000)

With the announcement of this issue, I did start looking at making them out of Foamed-PVC sheet. For a CG-1000 at YBBS prices, it just wasn't worth it because they were about $8 per box and an hour or two of my time. At ~$20, its a no-brainer. If you could keep them around 9-11 with shipping, I think its still worth it.

btw... My brother uses these at the phone company and he said they were told by management that these boxes cost $20 each and to be careful not to waste them. I think we were simply getting a killer deal on them.

well, I can tell you the pricing will be higher..there is no way that it can't. I do not expect it to be much higher however. Remember that to do this I have to have all of these prepaid and shipped to my location. Then repackaged and sent out again. So that is some of the overhead that I need to consider.

As of right now, everyone should JUMP on the YBBS going out of business sale for sure.

    Chris,

If I understand what you're saying, you'd like to purchase in bulk, but are you saying you would "stock" these, or is this more or less a one time group buy thing?

Depending on the prices you might be able to offer, some of the difference from that of YBBS could be made up in shipping perhaps. Again, depending on the price you may be able to offer, I would buy from you if the prices are somewhat close. At $20, though, I might do with what I have on hand.

    Nope..not a group buy

I will make sizable purchases from Arris and stock these myself. You order them, and I (or one of my kids lol) will mail them out. I do not see this being anywhere near $20 a box! If I did that, I would check myself into jail as a crook! Also, I will handle shipping as inexpensive as possible. Sometimes, its cheaper to do parcel post than flatrate. I will work to keep things as reasonable as I can. This is just planning at the moment as the real thing would not begin until next year unless someone has URGENT need after YBBS goes away. Just FYI, I have a sizable inventory of the CG-1000 and the TA-200s now --my wife keeps reminding me about them!

I think it would be great that someone does this plus you can always offer them in the group buys. It would be nice to see another avenue to be able to get them once YBBS goes out of business.
