I've seen a couple of occurrences too, although young, I let them go, as I see them on other forums a lot more :P
We have grown a lot over the past couple of years, and something I have seen more of, is the use of foul language, mainly the 4 letter words. Folks, remember that DIYC was founded as a "Family Friendly" site. There has been some posts here lately that I would not want my kids reading. I really feel, as adults, we can have typed discussions without the use of "foul language" (typed out or implied) to get our point across. This is for respect of others who may be reading, as well as the Forum Rules forbid the use of them.
I'm not fussing, just reminding everyone to keep this in mind when posting. ;)

I know I have to adjust my normal language for this site. I try not to slip up. I don't have young kids and not around people who do very often.
You could help us foul language users by enabling the replacement function of vbulletin to replace the words with **** for the times we slip up.

Or, just don't slip up. Those words actually have little use in normal discourse anyway.

Even though the DIGWDF Store has been closed for two years, it's still awesome!
User guides, documentation and other files are still free and available for downloading.
You've never been around a family of loud mouth crazy (can't say this word) Louisiana Catholics have you?
Plus I work with mainly electricians all day. It is part of my normal vocabulary.
I am not trying to argue the use of the words, I am just politely asking to block them so that way people with children won't be offended. I try not to slip up, but I am human and make mistakes.

Keep in mind that everyone has to type these words so it's a lot different than saying them. Driving in my car with my kids I've forgotten they were there from time to time and cursed at a few idiots and then went "oops". But when you're here on the forums you have plenty of time to think what you are typing so there really is no excuse.
I'm far from prudish but I agree - there's just no excuse for "letting loose" here...

A mistake is a mistake. I try not to let it happen but when I am on multiple forums and run a few as well, it's pretty easy to forget where you are at and post something one forum may not allow. Especially since I do a lot of mobile posting now and this forums default skin doesn't help much.
I don't think I have done it lately, I am pretty sure I have had my hand smacked awhile ago. I am just saying, maybe censoring the board would be an idea. Save moderators needless moderating.

We can look into that feature, but for now, lets just use the "Preview Post" button. ;)
Well Vbulletin will let you change words with other words. When Michael Jackson died, I was tired of all the threads about it on one of my forums. So now whenever Michael Jackson is typed on that forum now, it says something else when it appears on the forum. For example it could say "Lady Gaga" instead. You could do that here and make the bad words into nice words.
