I have an e680 sandevices pixel controller all wired up correctly and my pixels won't light. I tried Sacnview and doing test commands. Web page works as advertised and I receive packets. Just no response to my pixels. I am using an ASUS dual core netbook. Power source is a hyper juice battery for macbook. Attached photos of are my set up. I've got over 40 hrs invested in this and it's driving me insane. I'm either doing something completely retarded or I have bad equipment. I also have an e681. My pixels work with the e681 and I'm able to run through the test commands. However, the e681 web page always times out on me and freezes. I have to do a forced DHCP fail reset to bring my page back up (yes I did command quit999 and disabled my wireless connection). Anyways, I will only be needing the e680 cause it is smaller for my application. <a href="http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=13939&d=1337216214" title="Name: photo1.jpg

We have released a 33 page graphical guide on setting up and controlling pixels using the ECG-P12R, This manual should help those getting into pixels to understand the various connection and power injection methods used and how to configure the ECG-P12R pixel controller both in hardware and software. The guide is also an excellent resource for those using an ECG-PIXAD8 as over 90% of the guide is the same

A must for anyone who either uses an ECG-P12R or a ECG-PIXAD8 or is looking at getting into pixel lighting.
I purchased this unit (http://www.ebay.com/itm/180822482133...84.m1439.l2649) but now realize that it is an Entec DMX clone and does not work with Renard with Renard firmware. My Xbees work great but when I am testing a new board, I just want a way to quckly hook the board to my main computer without dragging out the xbees.

Thnak for any help and yes I did a forum and wiki search but have not found a satisfactory answer.
up with the Simple Renard 16 RGB+W, it is pretty much the same as a Simple Renard RGB+W just half the amount of channels.
If there is some interest we will make some available for the DIYC folks. Attached are some PDF's of how the board will be laid out
it is just a rough idea at this point and it probably needs a little touching up.

Hey everyone

I just got a 5050 rgb strip off of eBay and I'm a little confused on a few things. First, the listing says that the current rating is >6A. I took this to mean that when the whole 5 meter section was on (all three colors) it drew a little less than 6 amps. When I hooked it up I only measured (the exact number escapes me right now) somewhere around 2.5-2.9 amps. The strip is 5 meters long and is the 60 led per meter kind. Does this seem right? I could swear I've read other post that said they should draw around 6.

My othe question involves diffusing. I want to use the 5050 strips to line my roof and I'm trying to design some sort of mounting "cradle" for them with a diffuser over the strips. I tested both coro and acrylic and I wasn't impressed by either. The acrylic was sanded on the side that the light hit, and didn't really difffuse the lights at all, and kind of made the red blue and green LEDs within each rgb led easier to tell apart. The coro was a bit better but don't like working with the stuff. Any good ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

The goal is to take a 50-ct string of incans and cut it down to 25 lites.

The Kill-a-watt says the string uses .10A for 50 bulbs. This works out to .002A per bulb.

120vac/50 bulbs - 2.4v per bulb

So 25 bulbs uses 60 volts (25 x 2.4v = 60)

If I take 170vac - 60v = 110volts that have to be absorbed in some manner. (At this point I could probably slather on some lutefisk, that seems to absorb a LOT of things... but we'll save that for another time...)

110v / .002A = 55K ohm resistor

110v * .002a = .22 watt resistor.

So if I went conservatively and used a 55K, 1-watt resistor this ought to work. Anybody have a feeling for how hot this puppy might get? Am I thinking this through properly???
