Autosave

I live in constant fear that I'm going to make a disastrous change to my sequence and somehow commit that change to disk. (Okay, so I have weird nightmares.)

It would be an immense safety net if Vixen would do an autosave, say, every 5 minutes (assuming a change has been made to the sequence) and keep ~10 backups on disk. It sure would help save me from myself!

Would be nice (especially the backups).

However, it might be a good idea to be able to turn it off. I run Vixen from my iPod and it takes a good 5 seconds to save a sequence...

Autosave? I would vote against this one unless it can be turned off. Think about this example: I have a sequence completed that I like. However there is one area I have a new idea about. So I go in and start playing around to see how my new idea looks. It takes about 6 minutes to redo the part in question and I preview it. I decide I like the original way better but I can no longer revert back to it because the "Autosave" automatically saved this new idea as I was trying it out. Now what do I do???

I have agree with Brian on this. It is just too easy to go to the top and click the 'save' button. There is also the 'backup' feature which is a good resource.

I guess I haven't conveyed my idea properly.

Autosave wouldn't save over your file. It would save to an alternate filename, kinda like MS Office does now.

So if I'm working on ExcellentSequence.vix, then every five minutes, Vixen would save my sequence as ExcellentSequence.vx1, would rename .vx1 to .vx2, etc. If I ever accidentally save over edits mistakenly, I can rename the .vx1 file to .vix and recover from the last autosave point.

Even if you made it optional that would be great it would have saved me work several times.
