View Full Version : HELP! Need SPT1 in green (~1400 feet)
I need about 1400 feet of SPT1 in green.
Action lighting is out for the season, i did find a place that had some, but in white. I prefer green, but I could survive with black or brown.
Thanks,
Dave

While I was in HD or Lowes the other day, I thought I saw some. I can check our local electrical supply house too.
Shipping may be a killer though.

Shipping runs about $17 / 500 feet, which is acceptable (from memory).
I know my local HD has it, but i'm terrified of the price... I'm affraid to look.... I think it may come to that though...
okay spt1 black, 31cents / foot at Home depot, and I need 1400 feet.
With tax, at home depot 455.70
online $255 (if I could find it somewhere!)
The best deal in town is outdoor landscaping wire from home depot, it is SPT2 and is 31 cents per foot. Great deal.
found it:

$259 for 3 (inc shipping!)

They are out of stock (they called me 4 days later to tell me and their website still says IN STOCK!)
Home depot sells black and brown SPT1 in 250 foot rolls for $39 each which is 16.4 c a foot (with 5% idaho state tax). Online it was 18cents a foot shipped.
The moral of the story is:
1) Some home depot employees in Boise are a few sandwiches short of a picnic and have no idea what is on their own shelves, despite how long I talked to them about other options.. and that I needed 1400 feet....
2) Don't buy wire by the foot at home depot (34 cents a foot).

ok... so you got it covered?
ok... so you got it covered?
yes finally, it was the last piece of the puzzle (and an important one!)
I can't believe, after all those trips to HD, and talking with them over and over and over, they didn't know that there were 250' rolls sitting on the shelf for 1/2 the price as "by-the-foot".

home depot folk generally dont know their stock. I have been know to show them where they have different things.
So i purchased all HD had, had to go to Lowes, and they sell the EXACT same thing (SPT1 black or brown) as follows:
Lowes .31/foot or 77.50 for a 250 foot roll (no discount for roll)
HD .31/foot or 38.50 for a 250 foot roll (nice discount!)
The joke is, at Lowes, if you buy clear or gray, you can get 250' for $40.94, but if you want black or brown, NO DISCOUNT, 77.50 for 250'!
I went round and round with this manager, and he finally sold me 4 rolls of 250' for 40.94 each.

If in fact it was the same exact wire, Lowes will price match PLUS 10%.

Take both reciepts back and show them the price difference, they might give you a refund of the difference.

Lowes has been a bit of a pain for me lately - I had been shopping there almost exclusivly for the past two years - but - have been buying a lot of my stuff this year at HD.

I find Lowes charges about 10% more for the stuff i care about.
I do like Lowes service better. But HD is <5 minutes from my house, and Lowes about a 15 minute drive each way.... location location location

I amin the same exact predicament. And when you still need a parent to drive, that 5min can be the difference between no Xmas and a lighted Xmas!!!
