Greetings all. Thought I'd introduce myself. Been doing static lights for as long as I was no longer living with my parents and have always had the brightest house at Christmas time.

A couple years ago I purchased the lights and sounds of Christmas and decided I wanted more. I found this and several other sites last November (seems like November is a popular time for new members looking at the joined date.) In October I found the thread on here for doing the parallel port mod for the mr christmas and got that working, unfortunately not in time for my Halloween display. Well the bug took hold and I decided to try my hand at one of the new renss24 boards. Money was a little tight at the time so ended up buying and populating a RenSS16 board. Got it built and tested, wife thought (probably still does think) I'm crazy for spending "that much money."

So trying to finalize my yard setup. Seems like everytime it's warm lately something else comes up that interferes, kids sick, kids get hurt and have to go to urgent care, pta meetings, etc. So been out in the dark the last few nights getting everything connected and tested hoping to have it done to turn on this weekend. Entering my house in the city lighting contest hoping for a win.

So, already have the REN24SS board, empty right now, but hope to populate it and add to my display next year (with wife's blessing of course ).

Sorry for the long post. Do however want to offer PIC programming (why did you by that thing!?) for anyone in the Kansas City area that doesn't want to shell out the money for a programmer to program their PIC's for their controllers. Hoping to contribute any way possible to the users of this great
forum.

Oh, and thanks for providing a great service with a wealth of information and help here.

Welcome

As far as a pic programmer, you can get one off ebay for $15, just skip lunch for a few days. lol

It's a good idea to keep one around in case you need to do some troubleshooting.

I bought my programmer from PICCircuit.com. They have an ebay store but I purchased from their sight and saved 5 bucks on shipping. Made my daughter pay me for gas for running her around for a week, used the money I would have spent on gas for the programmer :-)
