Hi Guys,

I know there are a few of these out there. I made this one in Excel to suit my own needs.

Specifically, if you enter your lighted string length, it will calculate the height of your tree based on the "diameter = height/2" accepted standard. It took me about 30 mins to remember how to do the algebra.. it's been a while!

Also, it will calculate string length based on the height and diameter you supply.

Also, it will calculate the height based on the string length and diameter you supply.

Circumference is calculated in each scenario.

Also, it will calculate the height and diameter based on string length and circumference (eg you want to use 2 pieces of 10' conduit for your base, so you know 20' is your circumference)

Everything runs independently, so you can plug numbers from one calculator into another to try and find that perfect configuration. You can put your string length in to get the recommended height and diameter (for example it recommends a 11.6 foot height), then take those numbers and plug it into another calculator to tweak it (for example, round the height up to 12 feet and calculate a new diameter) .

Anyway, enjoy :)

Nice spreadsheet! No doubt it will help others. You might consider putting it in the file library somewhere such as the Display Item area, making it easier for more folks to find!

Thanks for sharing and contributing to the growing DIYC set of tools!!!

Merry Christmas!
