Does anybody have any suggestions on where to get high-power RGB LEDs (SMD OK)? I'm looking for something on the order of 1/2W or larger, with all of the LED pins brought out (i.e. no common anodes or cathodes). Right now I've bought some of the discrete 1/2W LEDs from ceci, the same ones that I think are used on the 'Mighty-Mini' design, but I would prefer to have all of the LEDs in one package so that they mix better. I've looked at some of the parts in the mouser catalog, but they are all a bit expensive.

Just to get the obvious out of the way, this (http://cgi.ebay.com/1W-High-Power-RGB-Led-6-Pins-2pcs_W0QQitemZ380176023659) isn't what you want? Or these? (http://cgi.ebay.com/2PCS-2-PCS-1W-High-Power-RGB-Led-6-Pins_W0QQitemZ250516673911)

(yet another Don)

They would probably do, although I don't totally trust the specs or quality of any of this Ebay stuff. And I'm not sure of that availability of quantity over time.

That aside, I'm still interested in further input.

Anyway, here are a few comparable lights listed in mouser:

Seoul F50360 - $10.75 each, 35/57/13 LMs, similar voltage/current
Kingbright AAD1-9090BRGC-01/3 -$13.61 ea, 30/50/20 LM, similar voltage/current
Avago ASMT-MT00-00001 - $13.51 ea, 58/73/19.5 LM

and

Lumex SML-LX1610RGBW/A - $7.23 ea, which unfortunately are common-anode.

So those Ebay parts are about 1/2 the price...but I'm really suspicious that they are rejects or seconds (although I admit that they might just be production line over-run parts).

I bought some of these (/www.fcbelectronicsusa.com/servlet/the-LED-Luxeon-%26-Drivers/Categories) awhile back. They are usedin my Fibre Optic trees.

Service was better than Ebay store. FCB are also on Ebay. I dealt direct as I wanted 10 of the units.

i have had good luck with Topbright 3 watt rgb leds. http://stores.ebay.com/TopBright-Led-Store. also prolight opto has some great products, but no sellers in the US for the 6pin stars.
http://www.led-bulbs.com
sells the prolight optos PG6N-3LFS. thay are out of the uk
and i have ordered from them as well. if you need a bunch i would contact prolight via email and the can help you.

i have not played with the 1/2 watt plcc6 rgb leds, only the smaller ones. and the only problem i have with them is the colors seem to differ from one order to the next. i know now after looking at many spec sheets for the diffrent mfg. if you want colors to match from one order to the next you have to get them from the mfg. mouser, digikey, and newark only seem carry the mfg generic runs.
topbright also has the plcc6rgb led and they are good. but they will differ in color from one order to the next also.

Phil, if you want to PM me, i'll send you some details.. I have some 3x1W RGB leds that are luxeon clones.. All terminals ( 6 ) are exposed.. You really need to pay considerable effort in ensuring that you adaquantely heat sink them..
